Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein faces accusations of being a copy

The trailer for the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Khel Khel Mein’ has sparked a debate among netizens, with many drawing comparisons to the 2016 Italian film ‘Perfetti Sconosciuti’ (Perfect Strangers). The film, directed by Raj Mehta and starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, and Vaani Kapoor, revolves around seven friends who decide to play a game during a dinner party, where they agree to read aloud all notifications on their phones.

As the trailer gained traction, several social media users pointed out the similarities between ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Perfetti Sconosciuti’, with one user stating, “As it turns out that movie #KhelKhelMein is a remake of movie #PerfectStrangers which is available on Prime Video. It seems Bollywood can never improved, they will remain a copy cat. Utterly disappointing. Why can’t we make anything original?”

However, others argued that ‘Perfetti Sconosciuti’ has been remade multiple times before in various languages, holding the Guinness World Record for the ‘most remade film’ with 24 remakes. This revelation has led to a divided response from netizens, with some accepting the film as a remake and others criticizing it for lacking originality.

The trailer for ‘Khel Khel Mein’ was released on Friday, August 2nd, and has since garnered attention from the public. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how the film will be received by audiences when it hits theaters.
